Electric Locomotive CP 4704 Special Freight Train Nr. 98208(Fundão Freight Terminal-»Entroncamento) Place: Entroncamento - Portugal Day: 19-02-13
To be honest, this was actually an unexpected freighter! I was at the place waiting for a freighter that was hauled by CP 1947, which photo is here: [link] As soon as I heard the level crossing closing, I got read to capture the momment and this "thing" showed up! I have then checked timetables again and did saw that this freighter was supposed to appear at that hour, it would arrive after the freight with CP 1947 but since CP 1947 with the amoniac freighter was running a bit delayed, this one showed up first! Funny thing though, it was so short that it all fitted inside of the spot. Needless to say that I liked the result of this photo quite a lot.
I'm really enjoying this shot. It turned out great. Lighting is perfect, sky is very interesting... What more can I say except for the result is great?
Ah, electric freight locos. The unsung heroes of railways. The background does justice to this one; soft overcast blue-grey sky and the red & white rocks of the ground in sharp focus. Superb.
First - Good to see you here! And thank you very much once again! It was those days where you could catch sun in one momment and shadows in other, because there were lots of clouds, and, well, you can notice those in the background. The photo I took after this train, with one of my favorite locomotives, I didn't have as much luck with the sun! It got a bit more dark. Here's the photo: [link]
And yes! Those wagons are pretty interesting if you ask me. Their "name" is CP Us, they were mostly used for ballast transportation but CP also uses them, like on this case, to trasnport sand, and there was a time that they were seen transport coal even! Each wagon is consisted of 2 vehicles, its an articulated wagon. So all in all, here we have 6 wagons only! I was amazed it came so little but glad it did, as it fit all inside of this nice spot! Just on a sidenote: There's a nice pack of these wagons for MSTS here: [link][link] And link to the site: [link]
Any idea what kind of wagons those are?
And thank you very much once again!
