Diesel Locomotive CP 1154 "Sentinel" | Shunting old historic rolling stock. | Place: Entroncamento - Portugal | Day: 22-08-12

An awesome appearence of our little Sentinel shunters goes out of a private area and shunts on the mainlines with old rolling stock that is stored in the national museum. These shunters aren't in service on mainline, so that's what makes this photo even more rare and interesting.

You already know my opinion of that column but beside that the shot is nice and it's cool you managed to take a picture of Sentinel on the mainline. :aww: You were again at the right time in the right place ;)

Are those former sleepers of the Companie International des Wagon Lits?

Like I explained above to :iconshenanigan87:, yes, they are. CP had 12 sleeper cars from CIWL to be used on International Trains (mostly the Sud Express) and then on their last times they were used on trains inside Portugal as well. :)

Thank you! :) They aren't used anymore for "regular"/mainline shunting services. The Sentinel locos here are now only used on private areas like workshops, industries and the national railway museum in this case. But in order to shunt these cars to other depot belonging to the NRM, they had to take the loco through mainline, and that is the awesome rare thing I was able to catch. :D I'm happy for it. ;)

You're very welcome :-)
Seeing preserved/unusual engines pulling things on the main's always a treat, that's for sure! It's one of the joys of being a railfain :D
